TOP PHOTO:  1949, one of the first P.E. classes as Chanute AFB.  Most of these guys became supply people (three stayed in P.E.)  This was Norberg's first class as an instructor.

BOTTOM PHOTO:  1954 RCAF Winter Survival class.  There were eight airmen in the class, seven were from Stead AFB and myself from March AFB.

1968 Viet Nam in the Delta showing VAF students how the new harness for the Stanley Extraction operates.  This was used in the A-1E/H and J aircraft given to the VAF from the USN.  They could not use ejection seats because of their size.  It would break their legs, etc or they had to go over the side.  Stanley had a great system!

1953 Korea.  Showing a visitor from the VFW my shop.  Notice the old helmets.  There was no visor (we used goggles).  We were flying F-80s at the time then transitioned into F-86Es. The helmets were in poor shape and were as soft as the leather in football helmets in the days of yore.  I ordered the new P-1A as soon as possible, but had to do the visor mod myself since we were a one man shop.

Demonstrating a new way to fit a parachute so that the releases and sling are in the correct position. I hope the aircrews didn't wear their LPU under the harness chest strap as depicted here.

Sgt C. Lewis, 37 FIS, Ethan Allen AFB, VT showing local kids some P.E. equipment at the May 1956 Open House.

Summer Encampment.  Each Cadet received a half hour ride in a T-33.  We had 2,000 people to put through a four week program.
