Francis “Frank” Dougherty

1934 - 2008

 

Chief Master Sgt. Francis Dougherty, U.S. Air Force retired, age 73, of White, GA passed away Tuesday, Jan 1, 2008 at his residence.

 

Born on April 14, 1934, in Jamaica, N.Y., he was the son of the late John Dougherty and the late Mary Leach Dougherty. During his 28 year military career, Frank was awarded numerous prestigious awards and decorations including the Bronze Star and two Meritorious Service Medals. His assignments took him overseas to Germany as part of the World War II Occupation Forces, England, North Africa and Vietnam.

 

Frank’s assignments in the Life Support Career Field included Superintendent of the 52nd TFW, Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany; 33rd TFW Eglin AFB, FL; USAFE Command Superintendent, Ramstein Air Base Germany; Command IG, HQ USAFE, Kapaun Air Station, Germany; and Life Support Project Manager, USAF TAWC, Eglin AFB, FL.

 

Survivors included his beloved wife of 50 years, Helene Dougherty of White; his daughter, Helene Horgan and her husband Patrick of Cartersville, GA; his sons, Joseph Dougherty and his wife Sharmaine of Destin, FL, and Mark Dougherty and his wife Shannon of Merritt Island, FL.; his brother, John “Jack” Dougherty of Lakewood, NJ.; his sister, Marion San Antonio of Lakewood; and six grandchildren.
